BUSINESS AS USUAL: LEAGUES STILL ON AFTER PM ANNOUNCEMENT

We are delighted to announce that all our leagues are on as normal following the government’s announcement of increased lockdown measures.

Boris Johnson told a Downing Street Press Conference this afternoon that gatherings over six people would be banned again following a spike in Coronavirus cases in recent weeks. However, the great news is he has exempted organised team sports from these new measures meaning that you will be able to continue to get your vital fitness fix in the coming  weeks.

Leisure Leagues Jack Keeling said: “We have done everything we can to keep our leagues safe. We put a lot of work in before they resumed on the new guidelines and we are delighted that the government have recognised this and allowed these vital community hubs to continue.”

Mr. Johnson is a keen supporter of Leisure Leagues and has backed our football leagues publicly, as has Chairman of the DCMS Select Committee, Julian Knight, who visited our offices recently to find out more about our #SummerOfWeightLoss campaign.

Jack added: “It’s been great to get this support, and also that people recognise the massive importance of 6 a side football in terms of physical and mental health.”

When the leagues returned in June, with Guernsey the first to restart (pictured), it did so with a raft of new rules, including players paying by card, not cash and not being allowed within two metres of the referee.

We have also worked with all our venues to provide a Risk Assessment and track and trace systems are in place.
