The Rubery Thursday Football League kicked off its season last night, with teams from the Premier League and Division 1 divisions battling it out in an electric atmosphere. With players shaking off the rust from the off-season, the week 1 results showed promising efforts from all teams.
In the Premier League division, Beautiful Men and Last Legs FC ended their game in a 1-1 deadlock. A tight game with Baker in goal making a couple of fantastic saves

SakaPotatoes, however, managed a convincing 3-0 win against Field FC. Tonight’s MVP Barnes scored a fantastic double to add to Nash’s goal

The most thrilling match of the evening was between Unathletico Madrid and Chasers81120 FC, with Chasers81120 FC edging out a narrow 3-2 victory. Unathletico Madrid's standout player, Ryan Burden, demonstrated stellar form by scoring two goals, and also the MVP award

In Division 1, Excelsior FC began their season on a winning note, securing a 1-0 victory over Oldman Arthritic. A tightly contested game by both of our newest teams with a shout out to Excelsior’s Goalie Steve who stepped in at late notice, at 68 years young

The match between Pathetic Athletic and Munter Hunters ended in a no-score draw, once again Munters goalie was outstanding with Pathetic left ruing missed chances
Most Valuable Player- Lambie (Munter Hunters)
Maradona Kebabs triumphed over Pipers FC with a 2-0 win. The spotlight in this division shone on Ben Jackson from Maradona Kebabs, who netted two goals to become the top scorer for the week in Division 1.

The first week of the season has set the tone for an exciting league, with early leaders emerging and top scorers marking their presence. As the season progresses, we can expect many more thrilling football matches with teams giving everything to win their respective divisions. The energy, determination and skills displayed on the pitch illustrate that this season will indeed be one to watch.
