The Rubery Thursday 6-a-side league at Colmers Farm 3g enjoyed another great evening once again, as all teams were in attendance as scheduled.
Match Report
Premier Division
First fixture of the evening saw ACCA Maestros and Shamrocks face off in a points match. This is a one of the oldest rivalries in the league and even in a friendly match up the competition between the two sides is fierce.
Next up we had West Heath, of the Premier Division, face off against previously top Grafter XI, who were looking to keep their place atop the table. Unfortunately, the plucky West Heath side had other ideas. In what many will see as an upset, Lewis Glennon's boys ran out 1-0 winners on the night, with a goal from the diminuative Dane Harris giving them the victory.
Last game saw title chasing Puyol Pants Down play host to Leisure Leagues stalwarts Murder on Zidanes Floor, who had title aspirations of their own. A very competitive and closely fought game saw Puyol eventually nick a victory, with a goal from Shawn proving decisive and putting Puyol on top of the table thanks to Grafters XI's earlier loss.
Division One
First up we had Atletico Northfield, fresh off a last minute victory last week over Kante Win, facing off against Choo Choo FC. Unfortunately Choo Choo were just too much for Northfield, with braces from Luke Burkinshaw and Jay Higgins giving them the 4-0 win.
Next up saw Seshlihem and Cofton Whites do battle. Sehslihem did their promotion push wonders with a 3-0 victory over the whites, 2 goals from Alex Benn and another from Jake Fox saw them secure the win and 2nd place in the table.
The divisions top two sides faced off in the nights 3rd game. Unfortunately for RoyallRumble, Frankley United were in no mood to take prisoners, and thanks in large part to a brace from Ellis Riley, managed to run out 3-1 winners. Scouse hit the Rumble's consolation goal.
Last up saw bottom of the table Kante Win come up against local rivals Inter Mivan. In a turn up for the books, previously winless Kante managed to smash 8 goals past Inter and run out 8-3 winners to grab their first victory of the season. A superstar performance from Jack Middleton, that included no less than 6 of his teams goals, in large part to thank for the win.
