It was an absolutely fantastic evening of 6-a-side football at the Rubery Thursday league at Colmers Farm 3g in South Birmingham.
We had all 16 teams in attendance on the night, including SBA and ACCA Maestros, who both returned to action after missing last week.
Match Report:
First up in the Premier Division we saw two stalwarts of the league, reigning champions Puyol Pants Down and Murder on Zidanes Floor face off in a highly competitive game. It was end to end action throughout, as Puyol took an early lead through last season's top scorer Ryan Joinson, but Murder managed to peg them back through a Steve D equaliser. The game finished at 1-1 but both sides will feel they could've won a close battle.
Over on the other pitch we saw another tight affair, as Inter Mivan and BB played out a 0-0, with neither side able to break the deadlock.
Next up in the Prem we saw new boys SBA come up against an in-form Cho Chooo FC, who had all their big guns on show. Two of them, Shaun McLoughlin and Callum Gregory showed their class with 4 and 3 goals respectively as they proved too much in a 7-1 victory agains the battling SBA.
In Division one, title challenging Nordic FC came up against Howsyourback. In a 3-0 win for Nordic, it was the younger sides fitness that eventually shone through, as they were able to outlast Howsyourback, and win with a brace from captain Matt Clarke and a third from Scouse.
A close battle in the Premier Division saw Grafters XI secure a 2-1 win against West Heath. A close battle was won with goals from Ethan Whitehouse and Reid Bayliss, the consolation goal from the Heath boys coming from Steve.
High scorers on the night were Bissoumas Boomers, who sent shockwaves through Division 1 by smashing 10 past Cofton Whites, who would count themselves as title challengers before the game. Fletcher for Bissouma's scored a hat-trick to take away the match ball.
ACCA Maestros returned to action in the Prem, and another hat-trick, this time from captain Ryan Grundy, saw them beat new side Sensi FC in the final game of the night.
In the last game in Division One, Athletico Northfield gained the 2 points thanks to a Lewis Johnson hat-trick, as they beat Connor Greenway's Ayew Serious.
