RUBERY THURSDAY WEEKLY UPDATE 16/09

It was another fantastic night of 6-a-side football at the best league in Rubery, as the Rubery Thursday league saw all teams in attendance once again.

Match Report:

Premier Division

First game of the evening in the Premier Division saw a competitive battle between two mid-table sides who are pushing for the runners up spot, Grafters XI vs ACCA Maestros. The Grundy brothers, Josh and Ryan, each bagged for ACCA, along with Trevis, whilst Reid Bayliss and a Harry Harper brace for Grafters saw the match finish 3-3.

Next up saw veterans Muder on Zindanesfloor, currently holding on to 2nd spot, come up against a plucky West Heath side. Murder ran out eventual 2-0 winners thanks for strikes from John Greenaway and Dunleavey.

Finally, table toppers PuyolPantsDown came up against old adversaries Shamrocks in the last game for the division. Puyol were to strong for the lads in emerald green as they ran out convincing 6-0 winners and continued their charge for the title. 4 Goals from league top scorer Gregory and 2 from Ryan Joinson completed the rout.

Division 1

The games in division 1 were as close as ever. First up table topping Seshlihem secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Inter Mivan thanks to a hat-trick from in-form Alex Benn. Can anyone stop Jason Kamara's men as they charge towards a first title.

Next up was an eagerly anticipated clash between 2nd and 3rd placed Choo Choo and Frankley United to see who would grab the runners up spot coming into the tail end of the season. It was Choo Choo who took advantage, with goals from captain Theo Chambers and Forbes seeing them run out 2-0 winners to open up a two point gap.

3rd game of the evening saw Cofton Whites narrowly beat Athletico Northfield 2-1 at the Colmers Farm 3G pitch.  Goals from Andrews and Maguire were enough to give Cofton the win, with a consolation goal coming from Docherty for the boys from B31.

Last up saw bottom placed Kante Win secure their third victory of the season against Matt Clarke's RoyallRumble. A close game saw Kante take the win thanks to a brace from Dylan Fletcher and one from Jack Middleton. Matt Clarke score the single strike for the Rumble.
