5 -a-Side Indoor Rules Overview

The Kings Norton Boys School 5-a-side league starts Monday 7th October


The new 5-a-side Monday league at Kings Norton Boys School starts Monday 7th October, please see below for the game rules and over view to share with your teams


- Indoor trainers to be used

- Leisure Leagues will provide balls and bibs if needed 

- Please arrive 10 minutes before your game time and ensure payment has been made online prior to the game starting

- All teams are to wait inside the venue, outside th hall before their game starts. Each team can have a squad of 8 on the day, with subs able to sit inside the hall area before they come on

- Due to space, there unfortunately is no room for spectators in the pitch / hall area

- Parking is free and is at the front of the school

- Please give your team's goal scorers to the Match Night Official at the end of the game



- All games will start with one team kicking the ball to the other team. The game will be played in two halves, with half time in between


-All subs are roll on and off, however you must wait until the ball is dead to do. The ref must be informed when a sub is taking place


- No slide tackles


- The goal keeper can not kick the ball directly out his hands, he can under arm or over arm throw, or drop the ball to the floor and play with his feet. If the keeper kicks out of his hands, a pen is awarded


- Goalkeeper can not pick up from a back pass, if so a free kick is award


- A goalkeeper can not score directly from a throw to the opposition goal, a goal will be awarded if it deflects


- The goal keeper is able to come out the penalty area, and defenders / opposition players are able to go into the penalty area


- If a foul is awarded within the penalty area, a penalty kick will be awarded. The penalty kick will be one step


- All free kicks are direct


- If the ball goes into the net between the goal on the wall, it will be goal keepers ball


- The ball can not go out of play, the only time play stops is if it hits a sub on the edge on the benches, at which a free kick will be awarded at the refs decision


- If a player is trapped in the corner, the ref will ask the player without the ball to allow the opposion to come out with a 2 yard gap. The player has 5 seconds to do so and play a pass otherwise the ref will award a free kick to the other team


- There is no head height rule


- The match night official's decision is final. At Leisure Leagues we do not condone any verbal or physical abuse to any players or staff, and any team who does this will unfortunately be removed from the league
