It was a good evening's football in the Nuneaton Academy Sunday 6 a side league this week which saw all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled across all three divisions, as we welcomed four new sides to the action this week! The only exception to this was Dixy Pigeons who had given 7 days notice but return to action on Sunday 26th February.
The Premier Division title race took another turn this week, as The Allies went to the summit at the expense of Borussia Teeth whom they beat 4-1 in a well drilled performance. Jack's Army were 5-0 winners and move into second meaning three teams are now locked on 14 points going into the final five weeks! Shed FC climbed up to fifth and clearer of the drop zone with an impressive 3-0 win over Misfits, whilst new boys Atherstone FC look as though they will compete well as their first game saw them run Gylfi's Young Boys close, eventually losing out 4-3.
The top of Division One remains extremely close and there was nothing to choose between the top two as with the league table. Egg Fried Reus and Wanyamas In Pyjamas shared a point apiece in a 1-1 draw. Extra Special Ones remain third and pulled themselves back to within three points of the promotion spots with a 2-0 win over Rainbow Sparkles, whilst Kroos Control moved up to fourth place as they have only lost one of their last six, winning four, a hard earned 2-1 win over Hardly Athletic their reward this week for a much improved run. Who Ate Depays won the battle of the bottom two, as they were 1-0 winners against Globogym Purple Cobras to complete the division action.
The new Division Two looks to be reasonably evenly matched, Schindler's Assist claimed a 2-1 win over Jubilee Juggernauts, whilst Birdies Boys edged past The Backstreet Moyes by a 1-0 scoreline.
We thank all teams for their continued reliability and commitment towards the league which keeps the league running on time and smoothly each week too, and it is great to see the league going from strength to strength as the season progresses.
As ever, if you have any queries regarding the league, you can contact Shaun at Head Office on 0333 123 2340.
We wish all teams good luck going into game week 6 with Nuneaton's premier providers of small sided football!
