A fantastic night of 6-a-side football in the Brierley Hill Monday League with all teams in attendance as expected.
Unfortunately we did have a few disciplinary issues on the night. In the game between 'AC McCann' and 'Dudley Warriors', George from 'AC McCann' was sent off for violent conduct towards another player. In the aftermath of this Jake Astley of 'Dudley Warriors' and Asa Woodfield of 'AC McCann' were firstly sent to the sin bin for over aggressive behaviour to each other and while off the pitch were upgraded to red cards for throwing punches at each other while in the sin bin. All three players in this instance have all shown conduct that is not welcome at the league and therefore been given £50 fines each and permanent bans from playing in the league. As the team captain of 'AC McCann' has been permanently banned from the league for the actions they have taken in this instance the team have also been removed from the league with immediate effect. In the last game of the night between 'Lets Get Messi' and 'Man Chest Hair United' there was an altercation between 'Lets Get Messi' and some choice words thrown the referees way. I am disappointed to inform all teams that 'Lets Get Messi' will not be taking part in the league moving forward due to this altercation on the night. It is important that all teams remain within the rules of the league and it is important to remember that any disciplinary issues will be dealt with swiftly and accordingly. Although this does open up two spaces in the league it is paramount that teams understand that this is a leisure league and that if any situation like this is to happen again in future that the same punishment will be given every time.
On more positive news, we welcomed new team 'Is This The Way To Hammer Villa?' who played very well in there first game at the league and ran the Premier Division league leaders 'Crumptons Firm' very close and only narrowly missed out 6-4 in the end. We wish them all the best moving forward in the league and seeing if they can climb the table before the end of the season.
Game of the night in the Premier Division this week goes to the game between 'That Peter Crouch Team' and 'Inter Mi'Bathams'. Two very good sides that run each other very close every time they play and the result could have been very different if it wasn't for the heroics of the 'That Peter Crouch Team' goalkeeper on the night. With the 3-1 win 'That Peter Crouch Team' are setting up for an assault on the title again as they have 5 games to go.
The game of the night in Division One was between 'Real Madras' and 'Gary Neville Is A Legend'. Since joining the league 'Gary Neville Is A Legend' are unbeaten and looking to climb into the promotion places with a good 3-1 win on the night. Next up they face league leaders 'Pass It To The Left', win and they are two points off the top of the league, who will come out on top?
Team of the week has to be 'Gary Neville Is A Legend' with their brilliant victory above. Will anybody stop them on there path to the top of the league?
We now have two spaces in the league to fill, if you are interested sign up today and take part in the best league in your area!
