STOURBRIDGE MONDAY 6 A SIDE BREAKING NEWS 22ND MAY 2023

All the latest news for the Stourbridge Monday 6-a-side League direct from Stourbridge Rugby Club.

A fantastic night of 6-a-side football to kick of the brand new season in the Stourbridge Monday League.

We did have one non-attendance as 'PSGeezas' were not present for their fixture but have confirmed there return on Monday 5th June 2023. It is paramount all teams are present for each and every fixture in order for the league to run as smoothly as possible each week, if there is any issues be sure to let your Area Manager know in plenty of time.

In more positive news, we did welcome six new teams to league as 'Waggon Wonderers', 'Slumdog Mignolet', 'LABEL FC', 'Madeline Milan', 'Athletic Dildao' and 'Charva FC'. All put in great performances to start the season and we wish them all the best of luck moving forward in the new season!

Premier League game of the night was the game between two evenly matched teams, newly promoted, 'Where's Your Man FC' and 'AFC Vexham'. In an extremely close encounter both teams battled away to gain a victory, however neither team could get the victory as the game ended in a thrilling 1-1 draw. We look forward to seeing these two teams play each other later on in the season in what will be another challenging game.

A few games stand out in Division One, but it was 'West Midlands United F.C.' and 'Inter Mi Bathams' who stole the show at the start of the night to be the game of the night. Two very evenly matched teams on the night that played out a great game, but it was another thrilling draw that finished 4-4 as both teams played exciting end-to-end football. We look forward to these teams settling into the season well as a long and fun season awaits.

The game of the night in Division Two was a very tight thriller between 'Men in the Garden' and 'Hickory's Allstars'. Two similarly able teams served up a very close and hard-fought encounter but in the end, it was 'Men in the Garden' who were able to come out with the 3-1 win. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top when the two teams meet again later in the season.

In the BRAND NEW Division Three it was the game between two new teams 'Slumdog Mignolet' and 'LABEL FC' that was the standout game. In a thrilling encounter it was 'Slumdog Mignolet' who were able to come away with the 2-1 win. 'LABEL FC' will be looking for revenge later in the season as they will feel they missed good opportunities in the game to at least gat a point from the game.

The team of the week for this week has to be 'BBF United'. A very impressive win against 'Unprotected Cesc'  means they sit top of the Premier League after Week One thanks to their 5-1 victory.  They will look to build on this when they face last season's winners 'Celta Allstars' after the bank holiday, who will come out on top?

The league is now off for this next Bank Holiday Monday 29th May 2023, and will resume the week after on Monday 5th June 2023 as the centre is closed this week. We would like to wish everyone involved with the league a great bank holiday weekend and see you all on the 5th.
