All the latest news from the Stourbridge 6-a-side league is direct from Stourbridge Rugby Club.
A great evening of 6-a-side football in the Stourbridge Monday League as the new season begins and all teams were in attendance as expected.
We also welcomed new teams 'S&K', Beercelona' and 'S&K FC' to the league. All were successful winners in the first games of the season and will be looking to build on this as the season progresses. Good luck to them all in the season ahead!
Game of the evening for the new season in the Premier League saw a thrilling game as 'Chip Butty FC' beat opponents 'Redz On Stedz' 2-1.This extremely close encounter set out both teams intentions for the new season as they both aim to push onto potentially have a very successful season. The game itself provided two great team performances but it was goals from 'Chip Butty's' Connor Harris and Jack Lee that prevented a 'Redz on Stedz' win, we look forward to see how they both progress and to see if 'Chip Butty FC' can defend there title from last season.
In Division 1 there was also stiff competition, however the game of the evening was a 'Park Tavern FC' victory in 3-1 fashion over 'Dynamo B.C'. It was an exciting game which was toughly contested and where both teams played well to set the mark for the new season. The game could have been a lot closer if it wasn't for a hattrick from Elliot Baker. 'Dynamo B.C.' will count themselves unlucky not to leave the game with any points, hopefully both sides continue their good football as the new season progresses.
Division 2 saw an intense draw between 'West Midlands FC' and 'Cott Lane Colts'. The game finished 2-2 between two very equally matched sides that could continue this battle for the continuation of the season. Great team performances from both sides proved that a 2-2 draw was a fair result. With this being the only draw in all three divisions it will be interesting to see how the new season plays out
The team of the week goes to newcomers 'Beercelona' in their entry to the league and the new season. They enter the new season top of the league with a huge 6-1 victory over 'SteelYes! FC' a massive team performance led to their excellent victory and we look forward to them pushing on and potentially doing well this season.
