The Stourbridge 6-a-side league had lots to offer this week with multiple sides gaining big wins!
It was great to see that we had all team’s attendance during the current cold conditions however this did not deter the spirits of everyone attending the league.
In the Premier League the game of the evening came in a top of the table clash between 2nd place ‘Chip Butty FC’ and 3rd place ‘Big Stiff Idiots’ with the 3rd place side coming out on top in a 2-1 victory. The two teams battled away in the cold in a game which both teams fought to the end in attempt to get an all-important result to push them closer to 1st place position in pursuit of ‘The Princess’. ‘Big Stiff Idiots’ face a new challenge next week in the form of ‘Redz On Stedz’ which we look forward to watching.
In Division 1 we had a game full of goals in a thoroughly enjoyable game to watch between 2nd place ‘Park Tavern FC’ and 4th place ‘Bayern Neverlosen’ where the 2nd place team came out on top with a 4-2 victory. Neither side wanted to give in which resulted in an end to end game of football, with both teams are looking to push up the league and mount a promotion bid. However, it was ‘Park Tavern FC’ who were the better side which sees them on joint points with first place ‘Schoolboy Error’. We look forward to seeing these two teams battle it out for the rest of the season.
The game of the week in Division 2 was also a game which ended 4-2. Where ‘Waggon Wanderers’ continued their good run of form with 3 wins in 4 games as they beat ‘Dynamo Greyhound PFC’. This does not take away from the hard work put in from the losing side as they look to pick up some results throughout the season to move up the table. This was also an important victory for ‘Waggon Wanderers’ as they hold onto their promotion hopes. They play ‘This is Plough We Do It’ next week who currently sit in 3rd place which will be an important game in the league standings.
The TEAM OF THE EVENING are ‘Call The Cops FC’ as they beat ‘Redz On Stedz’ 7-2 in a game where they were determined to gain their first victory of the season. Can we see them continue this form next week as they take on league leaders 'The Princess'? Only time will tell.
