In an eventful week two of the Stourbridge Monday 6-a-side Football league, numerous teams battled it out in various divisions, showcasing their skills and tactics. The teams in the Premier League, Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, Division 4, and Division 5 divisions all put on spirited performances.
Unfortunately, we did have one incident on the night with an altercation between two players from Hwang Onasec and Scran City and also abusive language towards the referee from a Hwang Onasec player where both players were given red cards. Both players have been given a two-week ban from the league and £20.00 fines which have been paid. We would like to reinstate that this behaviour is not acceptable and will not be tolerated at the league.
In more positive news. In the Premier League, Celta Allstars triumphed over AFC Vexham with a dominating 6-1 victory continuing their fine form after taking two wins from two so far in the division, however currently sit in second place chasing down Wheres Your Man FC. Elsewhere in the division, Wheres Your Man FC outplayed Growler Out FC with a clean sheet, winning 3-0 and maintaining their first-placed spot within the premier league.
Division 1 saw VI Inches Combined emerging victorious against BBF United with a 4-1 scoreline getting their first win of the season under their belt, hopefully we can see them continue to play this exciting brand of football. Big Stiff Chip Butty reigned supreme with a thrilling 5-3 matchup against Baz Ball FC. Lable FC also got off the mark with a sublime 3-0 victory over Slumdog Mignolet.
In Division 2, the Piqué Blinders edged past West Midlands United F.C. with a 4-2 victory thanks to their determined attacking capability. De Jong Boys maintained a capable performance over Bayern Neverlosen 2-0. Finally Mirage United overcame their opponents Talbot 6 with a sensational 7-1 victory.
Turning attention to Division 3, Reserve Squad V2 celebrated their 3-1 win over Paralympique Marseille bumping themselves up to second in the division. Scran City and Hwang Onasec played out a 1-1 draw with neither side being able to break the deadlock. Genoa Side made it two from two with a 2-1 win over their opponents Gylfi Pleasures.
In Division 4, Spignif Allstars stole the show, with the team winning 3-2 over This Is Plough We Do It in a tight contest with not much to separate the two sides. Peter Larsen Kaffe beat Waggon Wonderers 4-2.
Lastly, Division 5 saw Let The Game McGinn beat We Don't Give A Flying Duck FC 4-1 putting on their shooting boots to secure the victory. A sensational draw was played between The Unbelievable Lads FC and Still Trying FC with the final score being 3-3. Gylfi as Charged also fell short to Hickorys Allstars in a goal-fest of a game which finished 5-7!
The second week of the Stourbridge Monday league demonstrated the grit and passion of these teams. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how the rest of the season unfolds.
