STOURBRIDGE SUNDAY 6 A SIDE BREAKING NEWS 30th JANUARY 2022

All the latest news for the Stourbridge Sunday 6-a-side League direct from Stourbridge Rugby Club.

A brilliant night of action to bring the Stourbridge Sunday League Cup group stages to an end. Unfortunately, we did have a non-attendance as 'Dads United' were unable to fulfil their fixtures. They will be contacted in order to confirm there return for finals week next week. It is paramount that all teams try there hardest to get a team out each and every week and if this is not possible that they notify the area manager in order for the league to run as smoothly as possible.

We did also have a disciplinary issue on the night. In the game between 'Magni Facio' and 'Waggon Wanderers', Will Jelley from 'Magni Facio' was sent off for violent conduct towards his opponents. Because of the incident the player in question has been fined £20 and banned from due to the severity of the abuse. As he is also the team captain the team have now been removed until someone else takes over the team. It is important that all teams remain within the rules of the league and it is important to remember that any disciplinary issues will be dealt with swiftly and accordingly.

Despite the incident above it was the game of the evening as the 8-7 scoreline to 'Waggon Wanderers' only tells half the story. 3-0 downwhen they lost a man and 6-0 down after this you would be forgiven to think that the 5 men of 'Magni Facio' would give up. Quite the opposite though as the team rallied and not only leveled the game but went 7-6 up! The extra man told in the end as 'Waggon Wanderers' poured forward to get back in the game and came away with the 8-7 win. With finals week on the horizon it will be interesting to see where all teams finish come the end of the Cup next week.

Team of the week is 'Gangsters Allardyce' as they continue their unbeaten record in the competition and booked there place in the final next week. The two wins on the night were hard fought and well earned as they finished top of Group A and next week go into a game with 'Sexy Football' for the title.

The games for finals week are as follows and all team captains will be emailed the schedule in due course to back up the below fixtures:

Pitch One

6pm (5th/6th Playoff) - Waggon Wanderers vs Rare FC

6:30pm (3rd/4th Place Playoff) - Hoosier Daddy's vs Oaks Ay We

Pitch Two
