The Dudley Monday 5-a-side Football league season kicked off with an adrenaline-pumping week of matches in the Premier League division. As the floodlights shone down on the fresh turf, extraordinary talent was on display, setting the standard for the season ahead.
In a high-scoring match, The Old Tigers roared into the season with a dominant victory over Brexit Bad Boys. Their aggressive forward play and solid defense showed that they're a force to be reckoned with this season. However, despite the defeat, Brexit Bad Boys' player Jack May stood out, earning the title of the most valued player of the week.
Sewey FC made a strong start, defeating Donkey Pool FC 5-2, displaying excellent teamwork and sheer determination. Meanwhile, in a closely contested game, Blade Runner managed to edge past FC Springhill with a 3-2 victory, showing their mettle in pressurized situations.
In their debut match it was an impressive result for Blade runner, not ignoring Springhill's contribution to the 5 goal thriller, making this this week's game of the week, well played to all involved.
However, the highlight of the night was undoubtedly the unstoppable Pacesetters FC, who got off to a flying start with a resounding 12-2 victory over Masterclass FC. Their striker, Akanji Abiodun, was in scintillating form, netting a total of 5 goals to become the top scorer in the Premier League division this week. Last season's champions start the season well picking up the team of the week title, well played gents.
The teams in the Premier League division have set an incredibly high standard at the very outset of the season. As the teams regroup for the next week's matches, fans will be eagerly waiting to see if the high scoring trend continues and whether new heroes will emerge on the pitch.
