It was another good evening's 6-a-side football in the University of Birmingham on Sunday, which saw all teams in attendance throughout the night across all six divisions as scheduled.
Sting Dem FC were given a good game this week as Ball Shmoovement pushed them close, Sting Dem eventually running out 4-2 winners, but Ball Shmoovement look like a team good enough for the top league going into next season, that result confirmed a back to back title with a game to spare for the leaders. Dads Army secured second place as they were 3-0 winners over Chivas Supplemento, bettering their fourth place finish from last season. Third placed Hamstead FC got back to winning ways as they ran out 3-1 winners against Pain In Dias. Elsewhere Chiellini Con Carne pushed Sporting Madrid closer to the drop, after thrashing the second bottom team 6-1. Sporting now need a win next week as the fixtures are repeated, and to hope for a defeat for Dias.
Gledfellas finally confirmed themselves as Division One champions as they edged past Brunswick Bladez by a 1-0 score line, whilst second placed FKW were beaten 3-1 by Gylfi Pleasures, which denied them the chance to move into second. They must hope for Gledfellas to win again this week, and a win themselves in the return fixture to try and secure Premier Division status next season! Already relegated Hotel Thiago got their first win of the season in the form of a 5-1 thrashing of Dolce and Lallana, who are now also relegated following this result, as third bottom Chivas Primera secured a 2-0 win against Only Put Matip In.
The Division Two race for promotion goes down to the final game, although fourth placed Dumbledore Pure Bludz may not officially be out of the running, it looks unlikely they will overturn the goal difference so will likely be in the same league next season. They did hold leaders Birmingham Tika-Taka Elite to a goalless draw this week though in an impressive performance. Hungry Boys moved to within a point of the leaders following their 4-0 victory against Cesc Pistols who are now relegated with that result. Pique Blinders look good value to sneak in at the last minute, after they thrashed Brummie Boys by 11 goals without reply to boost their goal difference significantly, they will however need The Hungry Boys to drop points this week to have any chance.
Division Three is now led by 3 4 a 1ner after they snuck past Jose 6 by a 2-1 score line, whilst Tikka Taka dropped to second place following their 5-2 reverse against Cadrington.
After leading the way in Division Four all season, a fourth defeat in five games sees The Cotters drop to second place, they were beaten 3-1 by third placed Orange Tangerines who are now right in the running to go up at the last! The two meet again this week and another defeat will see Tangerines promoted! Damo Carew now top the division after their 5-2 victory against Winding Wanderers making for a mouth watering conclusion to the season.
We wish all teams the best of luck going into this weekends games, the final ones of this season with Birmingham's premier small sided football providers!
