It was a good evening's football in the University of Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled, the only disappointment being Ballers or Draws for the second week running, they've now been removed from the league and replaced.
There were also no-shows from Its Going to Get Messi and Gangsters Allardyce, both of which have confirmed their return on Sunday 22nd January.
We are pleased to welcome new team Metch FC into Division Two on Sunday 22nd January, they join as a replacement for the aforementioned Ballers or Draws.
On the pitch there were some entertaining games played across the five divisions this week.
Dad's Army made it two wins in a row this week as they put in an impressive performance against Gledfellas to run out 3-1 winners, whilst Chiellini Con Carne also collected a second straight win, beating Damo Carew 3-2, Hungry Boys completed the trio of teams on maximum points after a 2-0 win over The Tormenta. Completing the divisions action was the returning Neverloseagain who edged past their opponents Chivas Primera by a single goal.
Division One is led at this early stage by Chivas Supplemento who claimed their second straight win as they won a thrilling encounter against Hales Angels by 4 goals to 3. AFC Kings Heath join them on four points from two after overcoming Goals Aloud 3-2, whilst We've Got Diogo Jota were 2-1 wins over Tikka Taka to get their season up and running points wise, as did Athletico Northfield who were 1-0 winners over Robben Me Blind.
Division Two saw Elgar Penthouse collect a second straight clean sheet after they followed up last weeks 7-0 win with another impressive 2-0 win against Mxrleys Angels. Dumbledore got a 5-0 walkover to remain second, whilst Alton Wanderers are on maximum points as well after they were 4-0 winners over Invictus. BigFatDave got off the mark for the season as they were 1-0 winners over a much improved from last week Bell Them Birds Back.
NDicka In Dias look to make it back to back titles this season, they have settled well into Division Three as a second win and clean sheet came this week as they beat a normally resolute Cotters by a comfortable 4-0 scoreline. Unusually, six of the other seven teams in the division have already suffered a defeat which sets up what looks to be a close campaign ahead. Boshers got off the mark with a 2-1 win over Hicks and Eel, whilst Dead Ballers won a seven goal thriller over Naughty Pinky by 4 goals to 3.
Top G's had a far closer game than last weeks 13-2 romping, as The Pie Guys were in no mood to let them run riot this week, the game ending goalless. MSC FC also had to settle for a point as they drew 1 apiece with Birmingham United, whilst Brummie Boys and Masterbaiters also played out the same scoreline in a week of draws for the division.
We are pleased to see the league running so smoothly overall and thank all teams for their continued reliability and commitment, and wish all teams good luck going into game week 3 with Birmingham's premier providers of small sided football!
