It was another excellent evening's 6 a side football in the University of Birmingham Sunday league this week with all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled, the only exceptions being a cancellation from Strike4orce FC and a non-attendance from MPU, both of whom will be spoken to and confirmed to return on Sunday 24th October.
In the Premier Division, Sting Dem FC stay at the top of the table albeit by a single point, they were convincing 9-2 winners over Chivas Primera, although second placed Athletico Mandem and third placed AFC Wip remain right on their coattails, both recorded wins this week too meaning the top three are separated by a solitary point, all eyes will be pointing to the 31st October clash when Sting Dem and WIP meet.
D&G now need just a single point from their next three games to clinch promotion from Division One, they were 6-0 winners over Brummie Boys this week, whilst four teams battle it out for the second promotion place, Chivas Supplemento now occupy this spot after a 1-0 victory against Dolce and Lallana.
In Division Two, Gledfellas moved up to second place this week following their 1-0 win over Dumbledore Pure Bludz who they leapfrog with this result. It looks likely it will now be between these two teams to take second place, as fourth placed Cesc Pistols were beaten 2-1 by Little Mix, meaning they are now three points behind the chasing pack with just three to play.
Division Three looks incredibly close as we approach the tail end of this season, four teams are separated by just a solitary point making for a thrilling end to the season! Pique Blinders moved to the summit of the table this week as they eased past bottom of the table B45 by a 4-0 scoreline. Come Digne With Me moved into second place as their 4-1 win over Brian Munich, coupled with FC Tormenta's 2-1 defeat to Jose 6 was enough to see the table change quite significantly.
Fred West Ham now sit top of Division Four following their 2-0 win over The Cotters, and Tikka Taka's 4-3 defeat to Dijkin Dias which sees them drop to second spot. In another incredibly tight division just a single point separates top of the table from 5th place, meaning it is anybody's guess who will gain promotion at the end of the campaign.
Division Five got underway this week as we welcomed five new teams to the league! Bachmann Begins looked impressive in their first game as they swept aside Damo Carew by 5 goals to nil. Adam Johnson's also recorded an impressive victory, as they ran out 4-1 winners in their matchup against 3 4 a 1ner.
