It was an excellent evening's football in the University of Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league this week, which saw all teams in attendance for their matches as scheduled and some entertaining fixtures played across all five divisions.
We welcomed new team Wake Up Milfyy to the Premier Division this week, and they settled in very well with a 1-0 win over an experienced Chivas Supplemento side to give them an encouraging start! Top of the table Sting Dem had to work hard for the win this week, as they edged past Hamstead FC by a 2-1 score line. Dads Army stay second after their comprehensive 6-1 victory against Sporting Madrid who are struggling to get away from that drop zone this campaign. Chiellini Con Carne put in an impressive performance and moved up to fourth place in the process as they recorded a 4-1 victory over sixth placed Pain In Dias.
Gledfellas lead at the top of Division One extended to three points this week as they met second placed Only Put Matip In, a game in which they ran out 2-1 winners, giving them a firm grip on promotion with four games remaining! FKW failed to capitalise on Matip's defeat though as they missed out on the opportunity to go second, losing out 3-2 to Chivas Primera, whilst Brunswick Bladez and Gylfi Pleasures both picked up wins to move themselves to within a point of the promotion places, in an ever congested division.
Birmingham Tiki Taka Elite retain their place at the top of Division Two after this weeks games, more by luck than judgement, they stay in pole position following their 2-2 draw with seventh placed Cesc Pistols, and coupled with second placed Dumbledore Pure Bludz being held to a 1-1 draw against The Pique Blinders. The Hungry Boys moved into third place following their 3-0 victory over Hales Angels FC, meaning four teams are now separated by just two points as the promotion push hots up! Come Digne With Me look to have secured a mid-table finish this term as they were comfortable 6-1 winners against Brummie Boys who stay bottom.
Tikka Taka put themselves in an even stronger position this week as they lined up against Jose 6 who were third prior to kick off. Tikka Taka were comfortable 2-0 winners and now move four points clear of third place with four games to play, meaning they have one hand on promotion already. 34a1ner keep pace with them though and are just a point off the leaders still, as they were 4-0 winners over Boshers FC. Bayer Neverlusen's 3-1 victory over Alton Wanderers sees them move into third position, whilst Cadrington FC sit nicely in mid-table after they were 4-1 victors over FC Tormenta.
The Cotters had won eight in a row, but now sit on the receiving end of a second successive defeat, as they were beaten 1-0 by Mxrleys Angels, they will be looking to get their promotion push back on track next week. They were helped slightly though by the fact second placed Damo Carew and third placed Orange Tangerines shared the spoils in a goalless game, meaning The Cotters still have a three point cushion. Winding Wanderers sit in fifth place with an outside chance of promotion as they were 2-1 winners over UAE Town, whilst MPU got their second win on the bounce since joining, they were 4-0 winners over DS Youth Academy.
