It was another good evening's football in the University of Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league this week, to get the new season underway, with some excellent matches played and some interesting results to start the season!
No result was more interesting than that in the Premier Division, where newly promoted Gledfellas met a previously dominant Sting Dem FC team. Gledfellas were in confident mood since their previous season's title return, and they certainly upset the applecart this week as they ran out 3-2 winners over the Premier Division champions in a superb result! The new boys will be looking to build on that result for the rest of the season!
Division One saw new team Crusaders Massive join the action this week. They put in an encouraging performance on their debuts, losing out narrowly to Pain in Dias in an entertaining game which ended 3-2. Newly promoted Birmingham Tiki-Taka also got off to a great start as they ran out 2-0 winners over Gylfi Pleasures as they bid to achieve back to back promotions.
In Division 2, another newly promoted side, 3 4 a 1ner made the most of their new surroundings after being promoted to play on the Bournbrook pitches, they romped to a 6-0 win over Hales Angels CF as they really look to have found their groove in recent weeks!
In Division 3, Cesc Pistols look to bounce back from their recent relegation at the first time of asking as they thrashed Brummie Boys FC by an 8-1 score line in a fantastic performance!
The Cotters looked a dead cert for promotion from Division 4 for a majority of last season, but unfortunately fell short at the business end of the season. They look to go one better this season and a 5-0 win over DS Youth Academy was enough to get the ball rolling.
Wolves of Vita Street looked in unforgiving form as they came up against new boys Corner McGregor in Division 5, they thrashed the new boys 11-0, not giving them any chance as they looked to get used to the league!
We thank all of our teams for their continued commitment and reliability as we head into the second week of the season this week with Birmingham's premier providers of small sided football!
