It was another fantastic evening's action in the Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league this week with all teams in attendance for their matches including the new Division Five teams who made their debuts with us. The only disappointment was a non-attendance from Goals Aloud in Division One who will be spoken to accordingly to confirm their return to action on Sunday 12th February.
We have a new leader in the Premier Division again this week as Dad's Army went back to the summit after they scored a 3-1 win over Chivas Primera, moving them above Chiellini Con Carne who were edged out by a single goal against NeverLoseAgain who draw level with their opponents and are a point off the leaders. Gledfellas stay in the mix as the fourth placed team were 3-1 victors against The Hungry Boys as they also sit a point off the pace, whilst Damo Carew climbed out of the drop zone with a well earned 4-1 victory against The Tormenta.
Chivas Supplemento put in a five star performance as their perfect start extended into game week 5, they were 1-0 winners against third placed Athletico Northfield, whilst second placed We've Got Diogo Jota remain two points off the lead after their 5-0 walkover. Fourth placed AFC Kings Heath had to settle for a point after they were held to a goalless draw by Athletico Northfield, whilst the division's action was completed by Tikka Taka who came away with a 3-1 victory over Hales Angels CF.
Division Two leaders Elgar Penthouse got back to winning ways this week with a rampant 5-0 win against BigFatDave FC. Alton Wanderers stay second and level with the leaders after a 2-0 victory against Metch FC. Dumbledore Pure Bludz keep their place in third with a 2-0 win against Mxrleys Angels, whilst Bell Them Birds Back won by the same scoreline against Invictus FC.
Division Three leaders Ndicka In Dias suffered a 3-1 reverse at the hands of Veggie United this week, allowing Hicks and Eel to move back level on points with the top team as they were comfortable 3-0 winners over The Cotters. Elsewhere 2Legs1Rock moved up a place to third with a single goal victory against Dead Ballers, and Boshers moved out of the drop zone with a 2-0 win against Naughty Pinky.
On to Division Four, leaders Masterbaiters knew they'd be in for a challenging game this week against a tough to beat Pie Guys side, they worked hard and kept their place at the summit as they edged past their opponents by a single goal. Top G's stay in second place and also had to work for their win, as they saw off a stubborn Gangsters Allardyce by 3 goals to 2. MSF FC's comfortable 4-0 victory against Diamond Scrubs allowed them to move into third place, whilst the division's action was completed by Brummie Boys who got their second win on the bounce, beating Birmingham United 2-1.
Division Five kicked off with a difference in abilities this week which is to be expected as 8 new teams join on one week! However, the league should even out slightly when all teams get games under their belt moving forwards. Flacid Van Winkel got off to a flying start as they ran out of the blocks with a 10-0 win against MLCC. Another big win was for The 6 Offenders who were 8-2 victors against She Was Only XI, as were Tealby United who thrashed Hardly Athletic 7-1.
We thank all teams for their continued commitment to the league which has helped us to achieve the recent extension. We wish all teams good luck going into game week 6 with Birmingham's longest established and premier providers of small sided football!
