It was a good evening's football in the University of Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league this week as we got the new Division Five up and running too, we were pleased to see all teams in attendance barring two, Hamstead FC and Come Digne With Me who will both be spoken to accordingly regarding this.
Sting Dem FC got another win this week, but they were made to work extremely hard for it as a dogged Chiellini Con Carne matched them for most of the game, Sting Dem eventually doing enough to run out 1-0 winners and all but seal the title as they are now four points ahead of Dads Army with just two to play. Wake Up Milfyyy look more than a match for the Premier Division since joining, they won their second game in three as they recorded an impressive 3-1 win against Pain In Dias. Sporting Madrid are doing all they can to beat the drop and they ended all square in a thrilling game with Chivas which ended 3-3.
Gledfellas edged ever closer to the big time this week as they were 4-1 winners over Gylfi Pleasures FC, they remain three points clear of second and four of third with as many points to play for, barring a major change in fortunes they can look forward to playing in the top tier next season. FKW didn't have it all their own way this week as they only narrowly edged past bottom team Hotel? Thiago by a single goal, but it is all about results at this stage of the season and they stay in second. Brunswick Bladez sit in third as they ran to a 4-1 win over Chivas Primera, they now have back to back games against the leaders which they need to come through unscathed if they wish to gain promotion. Only Put Matip In still have an outside chance of promotion as they sit just two points off FKW, they were convincing 4-0 winners against Dolce and Lallana this week, two wins over Chivas MAY be enough to see them go up.
Division Two is the one to watch going into the last two games of the season, with any one of FOUR teams vying for those elusive promotion places. Birmingham Tiki Taka Elite lead the way after a strong 6-0 win over Brummie Boys this week, and look strong favourites for promotion this season, holding a three point lead in the top two. However, second placed Hungry Boys have two games coming up against second bottom Cesc Pistols, and third placed Dumbledore Pure Bludz, who were 2-0 winners over Hales Angels this week play the leaders twice in the next two weeks as the fixtures are back to back! They could have a major say in who goes up with these games coming up! Pique Blinders are in fourth place but have an outside chance of going up too, as they were 2-1 winners over Cesc this week.
Tikka Taka and 34a1ner made promotion official this week as both have an unassailable lead over the rest of Division Three. Tikka Taka stay top after their 3-1 victory over strugglers Boshers, whilst 341 were 4-0 winners over Cadrington who were third before kick off. Both now will be fighting it out to see who can take the title in the next two games. Bayer Neverlusen moved up to third and even though they cannot gain promotion, will be looking to finish as high as possible after they were 4-2 victors over Jose 6. A point was enough to confirm safety for FC Tormenta as they shared the spoils with second bottom Alton Wanderers, 2-2 the final score but it keeps the gap to 6 points between the two with only 4 points to play for.
In Division Four, The Cotters had recently been looking shaky after a previously perfect campaign. They got back to winning ways this week after three defeats on the bounce, an important 1-0 win over MPU enough to keep them in pole position. It was a good job they won too as second placed Damo Carew looked in fine form with a 5-1 thrashing of DS Youth Academy, whilst third placed Orange Tangerines played out a goalless draw against UAE Town, losing ground on the promotion places. There are two huge weeks coming up though as The Cotters and Orange Tangerines will meet back to back in a fixture that will be vital to see who goes up! Mxrleys Angels keep up their outside chances of promotion after a convincing 3-0 win over Winding Wanderers.
The new division looked interesting this week as the new teams got to grips with the league. There were 5-0 wins for Madeleine Milan, Sheffield Sunday and Wolves of Vita Street, who all looked impressive, whilst Sainsburys'nt were 1-0 victors over Masterbaiters.
