Sunday 8th August - University of Birmingham Round-Up

It was an excellent week of football overall in the University of Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league as the new season got underway and we welcomed some new faces to the league.

Sting Dem FC joined the Premier Division having came in with a reputation of being a team to watch.  They showed this to be the case as they cruised to a 4-0 win over a usually resolute Sporting Madrid, this as they look to challenge for the title in their debut season.

We saw another three teams make their debut in Division 2, as FKW FC joined this week.  They ran out 3-2 winners in an entertaining encounter against Oldman Athletic who up until this point conceded just a single goal in their promotion campaign last season, something which could suggest FKW could be ones to watch for a title challenge this season.  Dumbledore Pure Bluds were another new team and also claimed victory, as they ran out 2-1 winners against Hales Angels in a closely fought encounter.  The final new team Gledfellas were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Cesc Pistols.

We welcome another new team to the league this week.  B45 Unathletic join Division 3 as a replacement for the outgoing Lovelle FC who've moved to one of our midweek leagues.  We wish the new starters good luck in their opening game with us.
