It was a fantastic start to the new season in the Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league overall this week. The only disappointment was a very late cancellation from Tilton Rifles who called at 5:30pm to cancel for 6pm. They return as normal on Sunday 15th December.
Last season's Premier Division champions Make a Change were held to a 1-1 draw by Sporting Madrid in a surprising result. The Hungry Boys got off to a fine start since their promotion to the Premier Division, starting life in the top league with a 6-1 thrashing of last season's third placed finishers D&G United. Dad's Army started the campaign off with a 2-1 win over Chivas Primera in an encouraging first game.
Simply Kosher were the biggest winners in Division One as they thrashed Long Ballers 6-0. Wighligh FC played their first game since relegation and thrashed Team Name 5-1, whilst Actuary Not That Bad were 3-0 victors in their game against Six Offenders. There was nothing to choose between SSS and Chivas Supplemento who drew 0-0.
Division Two saw wins for 4 teams in the opening night of games with no teams sharing the spoils. Tea and Busquets and Dead Ballers were 3-1 winners in their games against Charl Partidge and Sportugal respectively. Chiellini Con Carne put in a disciplined performance to come away with a 2-0 win in their game against League Hunters, whilst Dolce and Lallana played their first game since promotion and ran out 2-1 winners against Registered Six Defenders.
In Division Three, we saw Finn Loves Grans beat Krul Runnings 3-1 and AFC Kings Heath also win by the same scoreline in their game Incredible Scenery who played their first game in the local divisions. Nothing could separate Lads on Toure from Expected Toulouse, nor UAE Town with Brian Munich as both drew 1-1.
In Division Four, De Jong Offenders forfeited their game 5-0 after giving 7 days notice, so Cadbury Old Timers have an early advantage with goal difference from the rest of the league. The Trogs were 2-0 winners over Stevie Wonders and there were 1-0 wins for Average Bros and Beeches FC who played against Orange Tangerines and Sainsbury's Baysix respectively.
We remind all teams once again that the league will be running as normal over the Christmas period with games taking place on Sunday 22nd and 29th December. If you are unable to make either, or both of these fixtures, you are required to provide AT LEAST 7 DAYS NOTICE to avoid charge of your match fees.
We wish all teams the best of luck going into next weeks matches with Birmingham's premier small sided football provider.
