It was a good evening's football overall in the University of Birmingham Sunday 6 a side league this week, as we saw all teams in attendance barring three, all of which gave sufficient notice that they couldn't play and we welcome them back this week!
We saw new team Al-Shabaab join the league this week, although they suffered a rather heavy defeat to Dad's Army, they were said to be in good spirits and will look to build on this as they get used to the league.
Sting Dem FC got back to winning ways this week after forfeiting last week 5-0, they were 3-1 winners over Sporting Madrid in a hard fought game. Dads Army keep the pressure on though as they were 12-0 winners over the new side as mentioned above. All eyes will be on next week as the top two in the Premier Division meet! Hamstead FC moved into third place with a hard fought 1-0 victory against Chiellini Con Carne, whilst Chivas Supplemento suffered a 3-2 reverse at the hands of Pain In Dias.
Gledfellas continue to lead the way in Division One as they aim for back to back promotions, they were 3-1 winners over Dolce and Lallana who continue to hover over the relegation places. Matip were 5-0 winners and remain level on points with the leaders, whilst FKW try and keep up with the pace as they were 3-2 winners over Brunswick Bladez, remaining 2 points off the top two. Gylfi Pleasures FC moved up a place into fifth as they were 2-0 winners over Chivas Primera.
In Division Two, The Hungry Boys missed the chance to go top of the pile this week as they couldn't capitalise on Birmingham Tiki-Taka's 2-1 defeat to Come Digne With Me, drawing 1-1 with The Pique Blinders. Dumbledore Pure Bludz impressive 6-3 win over Cesc Pistols sees the top three teams separated by a solitary point as the promotion race hots up.
New side Alton Wanderers first game in Division Three saw them pick up an impressive 2-2 draw with league leaders Tiki Taka, whilst 34a1ner moved to within a point of the leaders with their 2-1 victory against FC Tormenta. Jose 6 moved into the promotion race as they sit in third place following a hard fought 1-0 win against Boshers FC, whilst mid-table Bayer Neverlusen and Cadrington FC shared the spoils in a match that ended 1-1.
The Cotters superb campaign continues as they recorded an eighth straight win this week, they were made to work hard for it though as they edged past UAE Town by just 1 goal. Second placed Orange Tangerines were also winners this week as they comfortably beat Winding Wanderers 3-0, whilst Mxrleys Angels moved up to fourth place with a 2-0 victory over bottom of the table DS Youth Academy.
