It was a good evening's football in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league this week overall, with all teams in attendance barring three who had given us a weeks notice due to the Wolves v Man City game, all of which return on Wednesday 18th May.
We were also disappointed to see a failure to attend from Randy Bin Men who will be spoken to accordingly and removed if they fail to respond.
It was a very symmetrical night in terms of results in the Premier Division this week as all three league games that took place ended 4-2! With wins for Nutmeg City over Exeter Gently, Mables Spartans over Fevers Finest and Athletic Bilswan over Ideal FC.
Division One saw the top two meet this week as both Nutmeg and Shameless 6 came into the game with perfect records up till this week. It was a pulsating game as expected and Nutmeg eventually ran out 5-4 winners in a thrilling fixture! Newstead missed the chance to go level with second though as they lost 3-2 to Vic FC who got their first points of the season on the board. Baldeaux also got their first win of the campaign and did so in style as they thrashed Blewitt FC 6-2.
Division Two continues to be tight at the top, Inter Yanan stay top on goal difference after a 4-1 win over Leavemyarsealona, but SMC FC won't go away and dug in to win 4-3 against Cesc Pistols in an end to end encounter. Traff FC got back to winning ways this week after last weeks defeat, they were 4-0 winners over Limes FC, whilst Strongbow Unathletic climbed out of the bottom two after a 5-1 thrashing of Huntington FC.
In Division Three, Sevilla Lacatalent were unable to capitalise on the absence of leaders Double Pogba and Coke this week as they could only manage a 2-2 draw against Limes FC keeping them a point off top. Wyld Stallyns stay in third place and lead the trio of teams on six points as they were comfortable 3-0 winners over Fiveways.
Haven't Got One Yet moved to the top of Division Four this week as they got a 5-0 walkover, whilst previous leaders Pique Blinders were held to a 3-3 draw by third placed Hstikkytokky in an entertaining game. Ooff FC moved up to fourth position after they dug to win 4-3 against 6 Men 1 Cup this week, moving them above Ball of Duty in the table as they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Deportivo La Cannock who are now 2 unbeaten.
We look forward to seeing a full programme of teams back in attendance for the games on Wednesday 18th May and thank all teams for their continued reliability to ensure the league is running on time and smoothly throughout the night.
