It was another fantastic evening's football in the Cannock and Hednesford Wednesday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance for their matches as scheduled, the only exceptions being late cancellations from both Albert Sloshers and Manresa FC, both of which have now been withdrawn from the league.
After a 15 year stay with Leisure Leagues, we also say goodbye to Wyld Stallyns who played their final game with us this week, bowing out with a closely competed 2-1 defeat against Haven't Got One Yet. We thank Will and all the lads for their commitment and reliability over the years, turning up week in week out and always playing in the correct spirit. We hope to see the team return one day in the future.
In the Premier League, Exeter Gentley put in a stellar performance to claim a 6-2 victory over Borrussia Teeth. Meanwhile, a gritty match between Jimmy Sevilla FC and Donk II ended in a 1-1 draw while Oriental Delight shut down Romasexuals 2-0. Perhaps the most exciting game of the night, IDEAL FC came out on top with a 3-1 triumph over Banglasesh FC.
In Division 1, TomBolas FC defeated Murder on Zidane's Floor 4-2, while Wheely Bad FC shared honours with Mable's Spartans in a 4-4 draw. Division 2 saw Toby Minton FC thrash Stonnall FC with an impressive 10-0 scoreline. Shameless 6! edged past Baldeaux 2-1, and Funny Innit suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat against Double Pogba and Coke.
Norton Wanderers fell short to Barely Athletic 3-2 in a close encounter in Division 3. Strongbow Unathletic claimed a firm 3-1 victory against Limes FC 2. Inter Mibreath were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Bilbao Baggins.
Division 4 saw Gerihatric claim a decisive 6-3 win over Hotel Thiago. Stuck in The Mud FC were trounced 7-1 by Five Ways. Haven't Got One Yet eked out a tight 2-1 victory against Wyld Stallyns.
We wish all teams good luck going into the next round of fixtures with Cannock and Hednesford's premier providers of small sided football!
