It was another good evening's football in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance throughout the night barring a handful of cancellations. Teenage Mutant Ninja Skrtels have now withdrawn from the league after failing to attend. We welcome new team Huntington FC to the league this week as a replacement for them.
Exeter Gently retain their place at the top of the table as they cruised to a 5-1 win over Banglasesh FC to keep themselves four points clear of second placed Nutmeg City, who ran out 5-0 winners over Murder on Zidane's Floor. Athletic Bilswan moved up to third place as they romped to a 10-2 victory over new boys Blewitt FC, whilst another new team Fevers Finest shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw against Ideal FC.
In Division One, leaders Oriental Delight need another point to seal the title, this after they thrashed 5-Ways FC by a 10-2 scoreline this week. Mables Spartans look to have secured the second promotion space barring a minor miracle, they were comfortable 2-0 winners over Shameless 6 who are looking over their shoulder at the drop zone as second bottom Strongbow Unathletic were 2-1 winners over Limes FC to move within a point of safety.
Anothr point will seal promotion from Division Two for Vic FC who are three points clear of third place after thrashing Leavemyarselona 8-2, whilst Traff FC stay in third but lose ground on the promotion spots after a surprise 3-2 defeat to Limes FC who climb out of the drop zone!
In Division Three the battle for the second promotion place rumbles on, second placed Sevilla Lacatalent were held to a 2-2 draw by Fiveways, but they move a point ahead of third placed Cesc Pistols who suffered a 3-2 reverse at the hands of Demba 9 Ba. Newolvabora remain in contention as they were comfortable 5-0 winners against Ball of Duty who slip into the bottom two.
Division Four leaders Capri Sun dropped points for only the second time this season, they won't be too worried as promotion is already in the bag, but Haven't Got One Yet put in a dogged performance to share the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Second placed Gangsters Allardyce also look to be promoted barring a minor miracle, they played out an eight goal thriller with HStikkytokky, a game that ended 4 a piece. Elsewhere there were 3-2 wins for Cross Bar-celona over The Pitmen, and Deportivo La Cannock who got their second win on the spin after a long wait, they overcame FC Borussia Teeth in their final game in the league.
We welcome new team OOFF FC to Division Four and wish these good luck in their first fixture on Wednesday 23rd March.
