It was a good evening's football in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance throughout the night, the only disappointment being Coggers at the end of the evening, they have however been spoken to and confirmed their return on Wednesday 5th October.
Cat Zouma gave themselves an outside chance of the title this week as they were 2-1 winners over leaders Ideal FC, although they remain three points off the top with three to play so it is the leaders to lose at this stage of the season. Exeter Gently remain in third and look unlikely to retain their title as they are three points off the leaders with games running out, following a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilswan. Fourth placed Nutmeg City were comfortable 4-0 winners as they beat Newstead who remain in the bottom two, whilst bottom side Shameless 6 got a second win in three games to bring themselves right in contention of staying up, as they beat third bottom Mable's Spartans 3-2 in an entertaining match!
Division One champions elect Nutmeg City showed no let up this week as they ran out 6-3 winners over Traff in a well competed game, whilst it was a tale of two new teams this week, Belt Road coming into the league in fine style as they thrashed Strongbow by a 10-1 scoreline, whilst Smokehouse Club De Futbol lost by the same scoreline against a good Phil My Teet side, as they look to get used to the league in the last few weeks of the campaign.
In Division Two, Limes FC look in good shape to achieve promotion as the leaders looked sharp in front of goal to run out 3-0 winners over Wyld Stallyns, putting them three points clear of third place. Sandwiched between the two are Cesc Pistols in second place, who were 3-1 winners over Sevilla Lacatalent, a point off the top and two ahead of third, which is now occupied by an in form Leavemyarselona who were impressive 5-0 winners against Demba 9 Ba, with a special mention to goalkeeper Josh Edward on his marauding run up field to get himself on the score sheet! Duppie White Delights moved up to fifth spot as they edged past Baldeaux by 2 goals to 1, although unlikely they have an outside chance of promotion sitting only three points off second!
Division Three leaders Limes FC 2 were beaten 2-1 this week against HStikkytokky but avoided any real damage as second placed Return of the Shack also lost in a thrilling encounter against Double Pogba and Koke, where two late goals gave the third placed team a 5-3 win and moved them within a point of the promotion places! Newolvabora got a crucial 3-0 win over Premier Group who they now move level on points with as they aim to climb out of the bottom two.
Division Four leaders 6 Men 1 Cup as good as confirmed promotion this week as they were 2-1 winners over Cross Bar-Celona meaning they're now six points clear of third with only three games to spare. Second placed Ball of Duty also took a knock as they were beaten 1-0 by bottom side Deportivo La Cannock, whilst Fiveways now sit a point off second but could've been better as they drew 2-2 with a recently improved Pitmen. OB City completed the divisions action with a 2-0 win against Haven't Got One Yet to move up to fourth and give themselves an outside chance of nicking second place.
We thank all teams for their continued commitment and reliability and wish all good luck going into game week 12 with Cannock's premier providers of small sided football!
