Wednesday 29th March - Cannock Round-Up

It was another fantastic evening's football in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance for their matches as scheduled and some well competed games played throughout the night.  The only exceptions were cancellations from Traff FC and Shady FC who return to action on Wednesday 5th April.

Belt Road went to the top of the pile in the Premier Division this week after beating rivals Phil My Teet 1-0 in a superbly fought encounter, putting them a point clear at the summit as Banglasesh lost for the first time this term, a 3-1 reverse at the hands of Oriental Delight who sit in fourth and move level on points with this weeks opponents.  Exeter Gently now occupy second place as they made it back to back wins this week, strolling to a 6-1 win over Athletic Bilswan.  The action was completed by the bottom two who both needed a win too get their season up and running, but both have to wait as they shared a point apiece in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Division One leaders Donk II saw their perfect start to the campaign come to an end, they remain unbeaten though as they shared a point apiece with Cat Zouma in a lively 2-2 draw.  That result allowed Fountain to move within a point of the summit as they won a well competed encounter against Shameless 6 by 4 goals to 2, they were made to sweat though as Shameless got 2 goals back towards the end, but it proved too late to stage any real comeback.  Nutmeg City bounced back from last weeks defeat as  they cruised to a 5-0 win over Mable's Spartans, whilst The Winding Wheel and Double Pogba could not be separated in the end, despite Pogba taking a 2 goal lead it finished 2 apiece.

Warehouse Warriors went to the top of the Division Two table this week as they claimed a 6-1 win over Strongbow Unathletic to remain unbeaten and boost their goal difference above that of Demba 9 Ba, who were 2-0 winners over Champagne Super Rovers who remain third.

OB City edged past No Name FC in Division Three to move two points clear of this weeks opposition, winning a well competed encounter 2-1, whilst Ball of Duty move into second place with a 3-1 victory against Wyld Stallyns.  6 Men 1 Cup recovered from last week's defeat to move up to fourth in an eight goal thriller which ended 4-4.  Completing the divisions action was an entertaining encounter in which Limes FC and Unathletico Madrid drew by the same scoreline!

Such is the closeness of Division Four, a defeat for Newolvabora saw them drop from top to fourth place as Haven't Got One Yet moved to the top of the pile by beating them 4-2.  A win by the same scoreline for Limes FC 2 against KFC sees them climb to second, whilst Fiveways were 3-2 winners against Netsix to move to third.  Well done to Wycombe Tit Village who claimed their first win of the campaign, beating Cannock Town United handsomely in a game that ended 5-2.

We thank all teams for their continued reliability and commitment to the league and wish all good luck going into the next round of fixtures with Cannock's premier providers of small sided football.
