Wednesday 30th June - Cannock Round-Up

It was another excellent evening's football in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league this week which saw all teams in attendance for their matches across all five divisions as scheduled, and some fantastic football on display!

We welcomed new team 'Allstars' to the league this week, they took the available slot in Division One.  They had a tough opener against an experienced Strongbow Unathletic side who ran out 6-0 winners, the new boys will be looking to build on that going into next weeks game.

The Premier Division is looking really competitive so far this campaign, with all games closely fought last night.  Exeter Gently have the early lead in the table as they have won 4 out of 4 so far, a hard fought 1-0 win against Doc Hudson Odoi their latest result.  AFC Heath Hayes occupy second place and pulled 2 points clear of third placed Oriental Delight, who they beat 2-1 this week in a battle of two of the longest serving teams in the league!  Elsewhere, Athletic Bilboat edged past bottom of the table Up  The Chase by a single goal, whilst Tackeroo racked up an impressive 3-0 win over Drill Inn FC.

Bangers maintained their 100% start in Division One with a hard earned 1-0 win over Nutmeg City, as they look to gain promotion in their first full season.  Banglasesh sit in second spot as their impressive start to the season continued with a 5-1 win over Ideal FC who've had a tough start to life in Division One since their relegation from the Premier Division.  SMC moved into fourth place with a 7-0 rout of new boys LA Patrol.

In Division Two there were two points separating Baldeaux and Limes before kick off, that is now four as Baldeaux made light work of their opponents, running out 5-0 winners to remain top of the table on maximum points.  They are closely followed by Mables Spartans who occupy second spot and are a solitary point off the pace after they recorded a 2-1 win over Gangsters Allardyce this week.  A disciplined performance from 6 Lovely Guys From Penkridge and two second half goals saw them beat MichuAtTheGayBar FC 2-0 to move into fourth spot, whilst EMG worked hard for their 2-1 win over Stroke Titty, whom they move above and into fifth spot.

Division Three is so close as only two points separate 6 teams at the early stages.  Boca Seniors sit top of the pile on 6 points following their 5-1 win over Newolvabora, whilst Newstead ground out a 1-0 win against Largentina to keep their place in second, level on points with Boca.  Vic moved up to third place completing the trio of teams on 6 points, this after a dominant performance in front of goal, in which they ran out 7-1 winners against Fiveways.  Shameless 6 sit in fifth place, but just a point off top spot after a professional performance in which they won 2-0 against Lads United who, along with Fiveways are yet to pick up a point this campaign.

Bumfica remain unbeaten this campaign and sit top of Division Four, closely followed by Inter Yanan in second place, who edged a tight game with Limes FC 2, running out 1-0 winners.  Leavemyarsealona dropped to third after losing out 3-2 to Wyld Stallyns in a thrilling clash.  Corneto'o FC moved up to fourth place after a 4-1 win over Only Fools and Scorers, helped by them taking a very early 2 goal lead inside 2 minutes, the game was closer than the score line suggests from there on in, but the damage was done early.

Finally in Division Five, it was the clash of the early top two teams this week, a game in which Sevilla Lacatelent ran out 2-1 winners over Capri Sun to keep their place at the summit, a result which coupled with Decorer FC's win sees Capri Sun drop into third place.  Ball of Duty moved into fourth position in the table, but were made to work for the points by bottom of the table The Pitmen, whom they finally overcame with a 5-3 scoreline, in an entertaining encounter.  The Donny's moved another place up the table, after their second win and clean sheet in a row, they were 2-0 winners against Bacon Bashers.

We are delighted to see the league running as smoothly as it is at present, and look forward to seeing all teams in attendance for the next round of games with Cannock's premier provider of small sided football!
