It was a good evening's football in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled and some excellent games played, in surprisingly snowy conditions!
Exeter Gently had already wrapped the title up, but aren't taking their foot off the gas as they ran out 3-1 winners over Nutmeg City who now drop to third place. Athletic Bilswan moved into second spot after picking up a valuable point in a 2-2 draw with Banglasesh, whilst Ideal FC were 4-2 winners over Cat Zouma in an entertaining game. Finally, in the battle of the new boys, Fevers Finest look to be a useful addition to the division as they thrashed Blewitt FC 8-3.
Mable's Spartans went to the top of Division One as they close in on the title, they got a massive 2-1 win over Oriental Delight to leapfrog their opponents with just one game remaining! Newstead FC suffered a 5-2 reverse at the hands of an improving 5-Ways FC, whilst Shameless 6 got a crucial result in their bid for survival, beating Strongbow Unathletic 2-1 to climb out of the drop zone at the expense of their opponents. Finally, new side Randy Bin Men looked impressive in their first game as they ran out 2-1 winners against Limes.
Vic FC missed the opportunity to wrap up the title in Division Two as they and second placed Baldeaux shared the spoils in an entertaining 4-4 draw, Vic remain top but need a win to take the trophy! Traff FC took full advantage of that result and came back into the promotion hunt as they beat Leavemyarselona 2-1, they now sit a point off second and meet them next week in what promises to be a cracking game! SMC FC remain in fourth after winning an end to end game against Wyld Stallyns which ended 7-4, whilst Huntington FC were 1-0 winners over Limes 2.
Division Three had already been sewn up by Inter Yanan but they will have been disappointed to lose their unbeaten record this week as Ball of Duty turned on the style to beat them 3-1, giving themselves a chance of safety in the final week. Cesc Pistols have knocked Sevilla Lacatalent out of the promotion hunt after inflicting a 4-2 defeat on them, putting themselves in second. Third placed Newolvabora were 5-0 winners over Fiveways but will need to inflict a second defeat in a row on the champions to have any chance of promotion.
In Division Four, the crucial clash of the top two was won by Double Pogba and Coke (formerly Capri Sun) as they brushed aside second placed Gangsters Allardyce 6-2 to confirm the title with a game to spare! Cross Bar-celona still have a faint chance of promotion and were 2-0 winners over HStikkytokky with two late goals. Haven't Got One Yet will be looking to finish as high as possible and moved up to fourth after a comfortable 3-0 win over Deportivo La Cannock, whilst new side Ooff FC won this week by the same score line against The Pitmen.
