Wednesday 6th July - Cannock Round-Up

It was another fantastic evening's football in the Cannock Wednesday 6 a side league this week, with all teams in attendance throughout the night as scheduled and some big results at both ends of the divisions.

Exeter Gently have taken the lead in the Premier Division title race at a vital time of the season, as they romped to a 9-3 win over Mable's Spartans, whilst Nutmeg City were held to a 1-1 draw by Cat Zouma to drop to second spot at a crucial stage of the campaign.  All eyes will be on next weeks matches to see who takes the title.  Ideal FC moved up to fifth spot but are by no means safe going into the final game, they all but consigned Shoal Hill Tavern to relegation though as they thrashed them 7-2, whilst Banglasesh FC and Athletic Bilswan played out a goalless stalemate to complete the action.  All to play for at both ends of the division next week.

Oriental Delight cruised to a 5-1 win over new boys Elms to keep their perfect record intact, whilst there was a big result in the race for second, as Newstead FS ran out 3-1 winners over Shameless 6, putting them in the driving seat for promotion if they can avoid defeat next week.  5-Ways FC ensured a fourth placed finish for the season after a 4-2 win over Baldeaux.  Whilst new team Coggers FC look to be a useful addition to the league, they played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Blewitt FC in a superb game played in the right spirit.

Division Two leaders Traff FC put themselves under unnecessary pressure in the promotion hunt, as they were beaten 2-1 by Leavemyarsealona meaning they could still slip out of the top two in the final week.  They meet second placed Inter Yanan in what promises to be a thrilling final game of the season.  SMC FC's 3-2 defeat to Strongbow Unathletic also means they have work to do to gain promotion, but given the top two play each other next week they should gain promotion if they can get past Huntington FC in the last game.  Cesc Pistols 3-1 win over Limes FC sees them safe from the drop and confirms Limes will be playing in Division Three next season.

Demba 9 Ba looked impressive as ever as the Division Three champions cruised to a 5-2 win over Crossbar-celona, whilst second place is still very much up for grabs and neither team is backing down, second place Wyld Stallyns thrashed Double Pogba and Coke 6-1 with a flurry of late goals, as third placed Sevilla Lacatalent cruised to a 5-0 win over Fiveways.  Wyld Stallyns will have to get a result out of the top team next week if they want to secure promotion, as Sevilla face an out of form Double Pogba.  Limes FC completed the divisions action with a narrow 2-1 win over Newolvabora.

Division Four leaders Pique Blinders secured promotion this week as they won an entertaining encounter against Haven't Got One Yet by 6 goals to 3.  There was a big result in the race for second as Ooff FC were narrow 1-0 winners over HStikkytokky to go above them in the table, meaning a point will be good enough in the final game of the season to go up.  6 Men 1 Cup got a fifth win in six as they overcame Ball of Duty with a narrow 2-1 scoreline, as they look to next season to mount a promotion challenge.  Well done to The Pitmen, who got their first win of the season since the opening day, and did so in style to beat Deportivo La Cannock 5-2.

We wish all teams the best of luck going into what will be an entertaining final round of fixtures with Cannock's premier small sided football providers!  The new season will kick off immediately on Wednesday 19th July.
