New Aylesbury Thursday 5 a side season kicks off!
Breaking news in the football world as the inaugural week of the Aylesbury Thursday 5-a-side Football League kicked off with a bang. Teams from both the Premier League and Division 1 came out in full force, showcasing their skills and commitment to the beautiful game at Aqua Vale. It was great to welcome so many new teams to the league, we still have one space left so it's not too late to get your team involved.
PREMIER LEAGUE
In the Premier League, the match between Zambian Workers and Bowsers Barhmi Army was a high-scoring affair, with the latter team emerging victorious with a 11-7 scoreline. The clash between Teenage Mutant Ninja Skrtels and Jubs Jentlemen ended on an even keel, with both teams managing to score two goals each. The Watermead vs Cutlers clash will take place at a latter date due to the unexpected change of pitch time due to the venue, for now it is entered as 0-0.
DIVISION ONE
In Division 1, W Fellas clashed with Bog FC, with the latter team outscoring their opponents 8-4. Unathletico Madrid secured a tightly contested victory against Brown Team, with a thrilling 8-6 scoreline. The House FC managed to secure a 4-2 victory over Earth Wind And Maguire. However, the highest-scoring match of the week came from Non Bibs and FC Dynamo, with the latter triumphing with a 12-9 margin.
One player who shone exceptionally bright in the first week of the season was Jack Boss from Unathletico Madrid, who was named as the 'Most Valued Player' of the week. His performance was instrumental in his team's victory and his individual brilliance was recognised and rewarded.
As the season has just begun, it's too soon to predict the frontrunners. However, the top scorers from the Premier League and Division 1, Bowsers Barhmi Army and FC Dynamo respectively, have set a high standard for others to follow. If the first week is any indication, we're in for an exciting season of football in the Aylesbury Thursday league.
A big thank you to Wes and Tony for reffing the evening and to all our players, thank you to everyone for adjusting to the later kick off times this week, it will be back to 7-9pm for match day two. Good luck when we return on the 27th June, remember no league next week due to the England game in the Euros.
