Axminster Wednesday 6 a side end of season!
In a thrilling culmination to the 22-week Axminster Wednesday 6-a-side Football league, the Premier League division witnessed action-packed matches that had us on the edge of our seats. This week's matches marked the end of the league, and the champions of the Premier League division have been crowned.
PREMIER LEAGUE
Congratulations to Staro FC who won the Premier League title, clinching the championship with an impressive 41 points and a spectacular 20 wins throughout the season. Their stellar performance culminated in a resounding 6-0 victory over Lionel Moosey FC last night. Adam Whitehouse, the linchpin of Staro FC, showcased his football prowess by scoring four goals alone, making him the top scorer in the Premier League this week, however it was teammate Russell G who pipped him to the Golden Boot with 32 goals this season, he's shared the award with William Hellier of Ansu Fatties who also hit an impressive 32 goals.
Elsewhere in the division, Nice To Michu defeated Ansu Fatties with a 6-1 victory. Nice To Michu's attack was relentless, leaving Ansu Fatties scrambling to defend their goal, it was hard luck for Michu who finished just a point behind Staro in the title race.
In a closely contested match, Farmers Weekly eked out a narrow 2-1 victory over Uplyme & Sinker. This hard-fought win reaffirms Farmers Weekly's position as one of the top contenders in the Premier League division as they ended the season 3rd with Uplyme in 4th spot.
The Axminster Wednesday league has provided an exciting season of football, showcasing the sheer talent of local teams. Congratulations to Staro FC for their stunning victory in the Premier League and thank you to all of our players and captains. We are looking forward to the next season, may the best team win!
