The Gosport Wednesday 6-a-side football league delivered another thrilling week of competition, as teams in the Premier League and Division 1 exhibited some exciting performances in their respective matches.
PREMIER LEAGUE
In the Premier League, it was a week of high-scoring games. Tekkerslovakia proved to be the standout team of the week, outclassing new team Jewventus with a staggering 10-1 victory. This phenomenal performance was highlighted by Jamie Smyth, who added a remarkable five goals to his name, claiming the title of top scorer in the Premier League this week. Baines On Toast also claimed a victory by defeating Murder On Zidanes Floor 4-2. However, the match with the most nail-biting finish was between South Coast Vikings and Put It In My Arsenal, with the latter squeezing out a narrow 7-6 win to secure their three points.
DIVISION ONE
In Division 1, the matches were equally competitive. Bowen Arrows and Snatit FC ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw, whilst Lucky 7 and Van Brockhurst also shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Fish Fingers FC managed to edge out Suck Umtities 2-1 in a closely contested match. However, the highlight of Division 1 was the commanding performance by Bayern Neverlosen, who defeated Queens Park Strangers 10-1. Toby Yeandle of Bowen Arrows was the star of the division, netting four goals to become the top scorer in Division 1 for the week.
As the league heads into its eighth week, the competition continues to heat up, with teams battling it out for supremacy in their respective divisions. We are eagerly awaiting the next round of matches, as the title race in both the Premier League and Division 1 remains wide open. The performance of the top scorers, Jamie Smyth and Toby Yeandle will also be keenly watched in the upcoming matches.
