Prizes awarded in Leisure Leagues Calne six a side

The inaugural season came to an end in the Leisure Leagues Calne Tuesday six a side with Fitness Box finishing the season as champions. They confirmed their status with a rather tame 0-0 draw against RichTeaWellens. The game was devoid of chances for both teams with Fitness knowing that a point was more than good enough.

If there anyone was anyone trying to make something happen for Fitness is was the newly crowned MVP Rory. He has been instrumental behind Fitness Box’s impressive run in the second half of the season and it was these Performances that saw Fitness move clear of their rivals in the final few weeks.

The battle was then on to see who would finish second in the table. Dads Dream Team Reborn and TMT went into their final games level on points. But with Dads having a superior goal difference they knew they just had to equal TMT’s result to secure 2nd place and take a coveted spot in the prize draw.

In the end both teams won their games and so it was Dads who took the runners up spot. In reality this was probably never in doubt. They were up against a team in HOLO FC who hadn’t managed a win all season. Even with a reserve team out they had more than enough to see off the sky blues who themselves will enter the prize draw as the team with the wooden spoon.

Finally it was time for the last game and an opportunity to say goodbye to Chicken Tikka Mo Salah. The team left the league with a thoroughly entertaining win against The Rushes. The game was end to end but it was the individual brilliance of Patch Wittock that made the difference. The guys have been a credit to the league and it’s a shame to lose them. However, their loss is another teams gain as we welcome Calne Veterans FC to the league in their place.

The new league starts next week and I for one cannot wait. There will be no way to hide this season as all teams are starting with a clean slate and a level playing field. It will be fascinating to see who will come out on top.

Ahead of the new season the league is already full and there is a growing waiting list of teams looking to join the league. If you want to join one of the best leagues in Wiltshire then it is important that you get your team registered quickly so you can take advantage if a team decides to withdraw from the league.
