Two horse race at Beversbrook six a side

It was a crucial night on Tuesday in the Leisure Leagues Calne six a side at Beversbrook Sports Facility. It looks clear the league has become a two horse race as The Rushes once again dropped points. Fitness Box are in the driving seat one point clear of TMT. RICHTEAWELLENS and Calne Vets are in a midfield battle of their own while at the bottom Dads, Netsix and Holo are battling to avoid being the recipients of the wooden spoon.

In the first game of the night TMT took on Holo FC with second against eighth it was always going to be difficult for Holo and so it proved. While the result might never have been in doubt the manner of the performance from TMT showed that they will do what ever it takes to overhaul their rivals and claim a first league title. The final score ending up 8-0 with goals coming from Ollie (2) Archie (hat-trick) Liam (1) Tommy (1) and an own goal.

In game 2 RichTea continued their impressive second season with a win against Dads Dream Team Reborn. Last season Rich lost twice to these guys so winning 3-0 is a testament to how far these guys have come in a short space of time. Josh Graham got one while ringer James Tinnier got two. With four games to go RichTeaWellens are still mathematically in with a chance of winning but will need results to go their way in other matches. They will hope that they can build on this season and push for a sustained challenge next season.

Game 3 was a heated game as FC Calne Vets tried to go toe to toe against Fitness Box. They came out of the traps quickly and got an early lead. They could and perhaps should have won the game but some I’ll discipline meant they were reduced to five and against Fitness Box this proved costly. One goal from Eddie and another from  Richards was enough to ease them in front and they controlled the game from there. It was a scare for the guys in yellow and they can I’ll afford to drop points in a title race as close as this one.

Game 4 was probably the game of the night as The Rushes took on Netsix and Chill. Netsix have struggled this season but returned to form against The Rushes in what was probably their best performance of the season. The game finished 3-3 which was a bitter blow to The Rushes chances. A hat-trick from James Weston was ultimately not enough.  2 goals from Humphries and another one from Jack Timberlake ensures the game ended in a draw. The Rushes are now 3 points behind league leaders Fitness Box and have it all to do in the remaining four games of the season.
