Week 2 of Burntwood Monday: A Night of Goals and Glory
The second week of Burntwood Monday, the thrilling 6-a-side football league, brought together some of the finest local teams in an exciting face-off last night. The competition is promising to be a thrilling one, with plenty of goals scored and some epic battles fought out on the pitch.
In the Premier League, Burntwood FC set the tone with a confident 6-0 win over Pete Always Scores Bangers. In another high-scoring game, Ray Priests routed M Bangers 11-0, sending shockwaves across the division. A couple of real shockers to introduce this roundup - the odds would have been tremendous! In other developments, CTL Elite also clinched victory against FC Prodigies in a tightly contested match ending 2-1.
In Division 1, Boys To Men and Norton Canes ended their battle in a 1-1 draw. Two fresh sets of faces, locking horns on the astro! Next up is yet another HUGE shock! Bottom FC maintained a clean sheet with an unexpected, yet well-deserved 2-0 win over former Div2 champs Norton FC.
This week we actually have a tie for Match of the Day. Two massively entertaining games were nominated, and we just couldn't pick them apart... An exciting duel between Kepa Clean Sheet and Patty Freaks FC saw a lot of goals, ending 5-3 in favor of Kepa Clean Sheet. The second extravaganza featured Harriers who managed to edge out Sheffield Monday 4-3 in a nail-biting finish.
Division 2 also saw it's fair share of some high-intensity fixtures. 2 Goals 1 Cup triumphed over Poms United 2-1 in a tightly contested battle. Purple Cobras FC overcame Monday Warriors 4-3 in a back-and-forth tennis style encounter. Unfortunately for them, Boat Inn Rovers succumbed to a 4-1 loss against Scrambled Legs.
As teams regroup for the forthcoming matches, the season promises more intrigue, drama, and excitement. Stay tuned as the Burntwood Monday League continues to unfold.
Remember that next Monday is the Easter Monday bank holiday (1st April). The leisure centre is closing early so we are cancelling this session as a result. This set of fixtures will be postponed. Our Sunday league is running as normal the Day before on Easter Sunday (31st March) so if any teams are dying to have a kick about then get in touch with Dan below as there is 1-off spaces available.
