The evening of week 14 in Burntwood's Monday 6-a-side Football league brought with it high-stakes and intense competition, signaling the thrilling close to this season's games. The divisions, namely Premier League, Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3, each saw remarkable performances and the crowning of their respective champions.
In an exhilarating match in the Premier League, we kick off with none other than the Match of the Season! A 7 goal final thriller between top and second place where the winner would take all! Burntwood FC narrowly edged out competitors CTL Elite, in a close 4-3 victory, thus securing their top spot in the division. Bagging an impressive total of 24 points and 11 wins, Burntwood FC proved their dominance in the division, making them the undisputed champions of the Premier League this season. Outstanding stuff, and still a big well done to CTL who slide out second.
In other action, Norton bossed their fixture against Sheffield Monday FC. A tasty little 4-1 to round off their modest campaigns.
Meanwhile, Division 1 saw the exact same drama. Top vs second! Who would’ve predicted this at the start of summer? Scrambled Legs securing a narrow victory against Monday Warriors with a scoreline of 3-2. With this win, Scrambled Legs topped the division with a stellar total of 24 points and a whopping 12 wins. A crazy division coming to a close with just a couple goals being the difference! Scrambled clinch the cup!! Their consistent performance throughout the season has indeed been commendable. Monday Warriors will have to settle for second best.
In an identical result lower down the table. Patty Freaks diminished Boys to Men 3-2 alike. Plenty of positives to take away from this season, as we roll into the next!
Division 2 was unbelievably even tighter once the dust had settled… With both Soup King and 2 goals 1 cup winning, no positions were exchanged from last week. The season was decided by a matter of goal difference, with SK edging it out by 7! Soup King FC triumph as they wrapped up their season with a total of 20 points and 9 wins. Their potent blend of skill and strategy was evidently showcased throughout the season, leaving the other teams trailing in their wake.
Commiserations to 2G1C who really fought their corner these past few weeks. At least they secured second place, as it could’ve been worse with a defeat! Shouting out to Kepa Clean sheet who nearly nicked it from them, thanks to a fine run of form at the finale to this campaign. In other news, Trooper annihilated BBW by 6 goals to nil!
In Division 3, TTFC missed their last game, but had already well secured their trophy. Congratulations! However, with Class on Grass winning well, the contest was actually closer than presumed! A shout out to them taking second and Inter Your Nan United outplayed Queen Park Strangers with a shocker of a 3-1 win. Despite the fierce competition, fresh blood in the form of new teams is on the way!
As we look back at the season, each division witnessed remarkable performances by the top scorers whose relentless pursuit of victory gave us unforgettable moments of sheer brilliance on the field.
