The Solent and University of Southampton Thursday 6-a-side league at Cantell School

The first round of matches started with a 4:1 win for ‘Punani Palace’ over ‘5 in the Pink, 1 in the Stink’.  ‘Punani Palace’ had some lovely dribbling bursts forward, resulting in high-quality end product.  Also on the early kick-off was ‘Stem K Dons’ against ‘Choomah FC’.  An excellent volleyed finish from ‘Stem K Dons’ early on set the tone for the match, with the score ending 3:1, in what was an unusually heated encounter.  In the middle matches, ‘Mayflower FC B’ beat ‘Archers Road’ 3:2 in a close match, the intramural rivalry giving both sides plenty to play for.  

Overall, ‘Mayflower FC B’ were more clinical, passing their way through their opposition and delivering pin-point finishes.  ‘Aston Birra’ thrashed ‘Up Your Arsenal’ 12:2 as the Spanish-influenced side ran riot, despite an even opening five to ten minutes, in which the sides went blow-for-blow to 2:2.  In the final round, ‘Culture FC’ showed great effort to come from 2:0 down to beat ‘Levant FC’ 4:2, while ‘I Kante Fit My Willian’ edged out a 3:1 win against ‘SNS’ in a tense match.
