Thursday 4th November 2021 - League Report

The Solent and University of Southampton Thursday 6-a-side league at Cantell School

All eyes were on ‘Mayflower FC A’ vs ‘5 in the Pink’ in the opening round of games.  From start to finish, ‘5 in the Pink’ proved to be the better team, snubbing out all chances at their own end and displaying excellent, deadly finishing at the other end.  The match ended 6:0, with the winning team’s striker bagging at least a hat-trick of well-taken goals.  

Secondly, we saw ‘Lads on Toure’ lose 2:1 to ‘Rodallega Bombs’ and ‘Stannmorre Stores’ beat league newbies ‘Police FC’ (replacing FC Farcelona) 2:1.  The pick of the games though was ‘Mayflower FC B’ vs ‘I Kante Fit My Willian’ – both teams short of defensive mindsets, the latter produced an impressive attacking performance to outscore their opponents 9:3.  

In the final set of matches, ‘Culture FC’ were comprehensively outplayed (4:0) by ‘AFC Shirley’, ‘Saka potatoes’ lost 4:1 to ‘Stem K Dons’ and ‘Bussoc’ beat ‘Almastone FC’ 4:1.
