Match day two of the Leisure Leagues Premier Division saw
friends turn into rivals as Salad Dodgers took on the Big Wangers.
In a pulsating end-to-end game there was little to choose between the teams until Dan Wright fired a low shot into the corner to give The Wangers the lead before half time.
This strike looked good enough to earn The Wangers the
points, until Salad Dodgers produced a remarkable comeback. Two goals in injury
time from the league’s top scorer, Matt Jeffs handed Salad Dodgers an unlikely
win, and more importantly, bragging rights for the week.
Next on were title favourites Paris Ganja Man who faced off
against an unbeaten Catfeesh. Arguably the best quality football of the season
was produced in this pulsating encounter. An early strike from the clinical, if
at times inconsistent, Kumar, gave Catfeesh an early lead before Paris
equalised within minutes.
Roared on by touchline orders from captain Bobby Gamble, a
last minute strike from Bracey gave Catfeesh a surprise victory. Could this
have been a very early title decider?
The final match saw Pingfisher play Balotellitubbies. In a
less competitive affair Balotellitubbies were brushed aside by their clinical
opponents. There were no heroics from the Balotellitubbies keeper this week as
his side lost 5-0.
