It was the final day of the season last night at our Newton Abbot Monday 6 a side league. It was also the final round of games before the Christmas break.
The title race came down to the final game of the season with an upset needed in order to deny Six Offenders the title, after a few seasons of getting close they weren't going to let this one slip. Beckwith's Ballers put up a good fight but there was no stopping Six Offenders in the end who powered on to a 6-2 victory and the title. The league's top scorer Josh Haynes banged another hat-trick to seal the Golden Boot with 21 goals for the season. Spartans did also win their game to end the season a point behind, beating FC Fairways 6-1 in their final game with Billy Bristow getting a hat-trick. Newton Wanderers picked up a 5-0 win due to AFC Turkey being away this week although they will be back for the start of the new season on the 9th January. Finally well done to Will Narramore of Beckwith's Ballers, despite their lowly finish in the league he proved to be a key player for them throughout the season, picking up 4 man of the match awards to win the league's Most Valuable Player award.
A huge thank you to Steve for running the evening every week, we all very much appreciate his efforts throughout the year, especially with the temperatures dropping now. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you on the 9th January for the start of the new season! Thanks Rich
