Newton Abbot 6 a side End Of Season review!

Thank you to all our captains and players this season at our Newton Abbot Monday 6 a side league at Coombeshead Academy, also not to forget a massive thank you to Steve for running and reffing the night all season.

This season has seen two teams battle it out right to the last day of the season with Newton Wanderers clinching the title with a point advantage over our runners up Six Offenders. 

In the final games Six Offenders took on Zidane's in a tight game they needed to win to keep the pressure on the leaders. With just 5 minutes to go the scores were tied at 3-3 but that little bit of quality shone through as Offenders ran out 6-3 winners. Newton Wanderers needed a win to seal the title however they didn't have it easy with Fiorentina Turner matching them right up until near the end of the game. With Wanderers leading 2-1 their keeper and man of the match Cam Simmons pulled off a wonder save tipping the ball on to the post, from that Wanderers broke to score a late goal to win it 3-1. Finally an end to end game saw Outheat who are sadly vacating the league after a tough season take on FC Fairways, both sides pushed for victory but neither could find that winning goal with it ending 5-5.

Congratulations to our champions Newton Wanderers and well done to Six Offenders for pushing them all the way. Our Golden Boot winner is Callum Noyce with 30 goals for Newton Wanderers while the league's Most Valuable Player award is split between Peter Gibson (FC Fairways) and Owen Coombe (Six Offenders) with 5 awards each.

As mentioned a rare place has come up in the league with Outheat leaving so if you'd like to grab the spot be quick and get signed up online. The new season starts on Monday 9th May, Cheers Rich
