Wanderers close the gap to 2 points at Newton Abbot 6 a side

We returned for match day 9 last night at our Newton Abbot Monday 6 a side league at Coombeshead Academy. All teams were in attendance apart from leaders Shlongheads who couldn't raise a side at late notice but will be returning next week.

With Shlongheads away it meant they lost their 100% record this season and allowed Newton Wanderers to close the gap to two points, Wanderers winning their game 4-1 against Murder On Zidane's Floor with Brad Doyle scoring a a hat-trick and Jordan Cooke notching the other one. Newton Wanderers take on Shlongheads next week although the leaders hold a 16 goal difference advantage so winning plus overturning that looks unlikely. In the other match last night top scorer Josh Haynes grabbed a brace as Six Offenders narrowly defeated FC Fairways 3-2, Haynes now has 20 for the season with a game to go.

Thank you to Steve for running the evening and to all our teams. See you all next week for the final round of games. The new season will then start on the 7th Feb. Cheers Rich 07969 731086
