Cowes Title Race Blown Open

It was another wild night to be playing 6 a side football on the Isle of Wight but at least we are able to continue unlike the large percentage of weekend games. Big thanks to Nick and Pete for reffing our games and of course to Calum for managing the night, must have been pretty hard work again. Despite the weather we had some cracking games again and the Prem in particular has suddenly got really interesting with leaders St Marys sadly having to miss last nights match day due to players work shifts and some injuries. Very unlike them to miss a game but the 5 - 0 win goes to DBS and the door is open to the chasing teams to stake a claim on the converted Cowes 6 a side trophy. Unreal Madrid are now in pole position having done a job on Pique Blinders. Liam Slaven scored 2 only to be outdone by team mate Joe Craig who got 3 in the 6 - 1 win. Their goal difference could be crucial as right there, level on points are Old Guns who never need a 2nd invite to get involved in a title race. The serial winners in Cowes have been without a trophy for a few seasons, is this the time for them to step back up? They won 7 - 0 against Millersmayhems last night as Billy Chugg netted a well taken hattrick and it's all set up nicely as the the current joint leaders face off next week in what could be the game that goes a long way to deciding the title.  Obviously there is a way to go and St Marys will bounce back and Pique Blinders are only a point off the pace too but its definitely safe to say the next few weeks will be well worth watching closely.

There was drama too in Division One where leaders Robbin Ma Koch came unstuck against Baines on Toast who move within a point of them at the top of the table. Victor Moses had a great 10 - 3 win over Hit The Wheel with Vinnie Morgan bagging 4 and Ben Colder 3 to keep their side in 3rd place while a Blair Burns hattrick was enough to give Diverse Cowboys a well deserved 5 - 0 win against Fill Her Wycombe.

So both division look well placed for the run in, we have a few new teams ready to roll so if we can get a bit more pitch time, we might be able to grow beyond 12 teams for next season. Any new teams looking to get involved in Cowes can register now and be in line for one of the places, we have 4 weeks to go of this campaign 1st though and it looks like it could be an exciting time for this brilliant league.

Well done guys, fingers crossed for some dry weather next week...
