The new Cowes Tuesday 6 a side season got underway last night at Cowes Enterprise College with all 8 teams returning, just a shame we can't get more pitch time at the moment to extend the league.
Ice Island are the early season leaders on goal difference after a big opening day win over Pique Blinders. Aaron Ince scored an impressive 7 times as Ice Island turned on the style. Captain Leon Stokes managed to get himself on the scoresheet too along with two each from Chance Higgins and Morgan Perrin as Ice ran out 13-0 winners. Pique Blinders had a bad day at the office but will be looking to bounce back next week. The Champions Old Guns also got themselves off to a flyer as they proved to strong on the night for Notting Your Mums Forest winning 6-1. Hat-tricks from Billy Chugg and Josh Tombleson did the damage.
The two other matches were much closer. Expected Toulouse put in one of their best performance in recent times helped by some inspired goalkeeping from Jacob Gammon in the sticks to push Ashton Villa II (formerly Thorness Bay) all the way, eventually though going down 2-1. Villa scoring through Ryan Godley and Jamie Barret. Fake Madrid edged their match with St Mary's to win 3-2, Luke and George Rowland both scoring along with Jamie Linnington to seal the win. Callum George bagged a couple for St Mary's but the goals weren't quite enough to take anything from the game.
Thank you to all our teams and to match night supervisor Callum with refs Nick and Chris. See you all next week.
