Another new season of Isle of Wight 6 a side kicked off in Cowes last night as our 8 team league embarked on another campaign. Old Guns were presented with their trophy and medals and captain Billy Chugg received his MVP award in an emotional ceremony where Billy paid tribute to his team mates for what had been one of his most satisfying title wins. Despite their leader being out injured, Old Guns started the season in familiar style with a convincing 6 - 1 win over Pique Blinders. Also starting strongly were St Marys who picked up two hard earned points in their season opener against Grease Monkeys, 2 - 1 the result in this one. Millennials Plus also registered a win, 8 - 5 against Baines on Toast, James Gallop's 4 goals not enough for Baines who paid for a sloppy 1st half, leaving too much to do after the break. Our newest team to this league, Vectis Academy FC started with a points win as She Said She Was X1 couldn't get there this week, Grease Monkeys stepping in to give them a decent game.
Thanks to Steve and Jukesy for reffing the games, it's great to be back underway with a new season, can anyone get close to Old Guns this time around ?
