It seems like a long time since we had any games in Cowes as our 6 a side league had to go on hold while some repairs took place at Cowes Enterprise College. All the issues were resolved over Christmas allowing us to pick up where we left off and crack on with the season last night. Obviously it had to be hammering down with rain for the 1st game back and coupled with strong winds meant it was quite a challenging night for the players and officials. Well done to all our teams that were there, only Fill Her Wycombe were missing which gave the chance for a new side - One Inch Wonders, to have a game in their place with Robbin Ma Koch cementing their place at the top of Division One with a 5 - 0 points win. 2nd placed Baines on Toast dropped a point with a 1 - 1 draw against Hit The Wheel but Victor Moses Lawn missed the chance to close the gap as they went down 6 - 3 to Diverse Cowboys, Oscar Grant with a well taken hattrick for The Cowboys who move up to 4th place.
In the Prem, St Marys hold onto top spot despite their 6 - 4 defeat at the hands of Old Guns, Billy Chugg starting the year well with 3 for the former champions. Pique Blinders could have gone top again but they were held to a dramatic 5 - 5 draw by DBS so stay 2nd on goal difference. Unreal Madrid in 3rd had a comfortable win against a depleted Millers Mayhems team who to their credit kept playing despite the heavy scorline. Raff Boyde Kerr did his chances of claiming the golden boot no harm as he bagged 12 on the night.
So given the conditions it was a good night of 6 a side and always nice to give a new side a run out. Big thanks to Calum and Pete for reffing the games, both did an exceptional job on a difficult night. We are halfway through the campaign now and there is loads to play for in both divisions so keep up the commitment and we will see you all back next week for week 6. Hopefully it will be a fair bit drier!
