Huge night of upsets in Leisure Leagues Swindon six a side

A crazy night at the Leisure Leagues Swindon Monday six a side at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground in Royal Wootton Bassett saw two of the top three team lose.

The first game of the night saw 2 Goals 1 Cup take on Sloblins. Sloblins have railed to record a win all season and no one was expecting they would get much from this game. This probably included 2 Goals and complacency is ultimately what captain Will Wright put this loss down to. He said his team lacked the energy and desire to compete and in six a side that is so often costly. Harry Walduck after the game was understandably ecstatic and no doubt celebrated long into the night. They still look to claim the leagues wooden spoon prize but they will do so with a smile on their face.

MOM: Harry Walduck

The second game saw Bass Rugby take on Expected Toulouse. Bass have started the season really well and most of that good work was because of Zack Stretch with his awesome pace and calm finishing. It was no surprise then that, with him back in the squad after the end of the exam season, they got back to winning ways. He is surely a contender for the most valuable player of the season. Expected have also struggled for players during this time but it was a pleasing site to see captain Hollie Timbrell back out on the pitch and finally she got the goal that her perfomances have deserved.

In game 3 Gangsters Allardyce put in a professional performance against Wirral Wubbish. The lads from the army demonstrated their class in this one. Where they have sometimes struggled at times is with scoring goals and teams have sometimes managed to shut them out and prevent them from finding the back of the net. Thats why a late transfer into the team in the form of big man Conor Wolohan was so vital for them. He made the difference in this one bagging two goals on his debut. He will surely be a vital asset as the team push on in the final two games, with their hopes surely set on securing another league title.

MOM: Conor Wolohan

The final game saw Hardley Athletic cause another upset by beating league leaders Silence of the Lahms 1-0. Striker Jack Stevens has been a revelation in this team making them a threat whenever they go forward. He scares defenders with his pace and they cant live with him. Nevertheless, George Staten, Silence's captain, will be livid that his team have allowed what a one time looked like a comfortable lead to slip away. On the other hand Dan Clarke will be over-joyed with his teams resurgence in the second half of the season and will be looking forward to getting the new season underway, where hopefully they can build on this momentum in order to make a fast start to the new season.

MOM: Jack Stevens

There are now only two weeks to go and next week could well be decisive as Silence take on Gangsters in a title showdown.
